With CPM men taking totheir heels in some of these areas, a section of the CRPF on duty wanted toenter the villages, but were denied permission by the state police. Seniorpolice officers met at Midnapore town on Tuesday and held that they would notencourage "disjointed operations". "Our target is the Maoists, not the tribals.If CRPF entered the villages, there were chances of them getting mobbed byvillagers prompting the jawans to open fire," a police officer said.
